Chengyang Wind and Rain Bridge

Brief / profile
Also called Yongji Bridge or Panlong Bridge, Chengyang Wind and Rain Bridge is a unique minority building of Dong Minority as well as the most famous one among the wind and rain bridges in Dong villages. As the fruit of Dong’s wisdom and industry, this bridge is one of the rarest wood architecture in China.

It stands 20 km northern part of Sanjiang County, Guiling City.

Why got its this name

This bridge earns this name since the covered corridor of the bridge can provide a shelter from wind and rain for you.

It’s said that Chengyang Wind and Rain Bridge was built in 1916 and has a history of nearly 100 years.

Architecture / Structure / Each scenery.

The whole bridge just like a wonderful rainbow provides a spectacular view for tourists. It’s made of wood and stone with the length of 64.4 meters, the width of 3.4 meters and the height of 10.6 meters. Moreover, there’re 5 large stone-made piers supporting the bridge. The floor is paved with wooden boards and both sides own railings, making this bridge just like a corridor. Besides, 5 pavilions in the body of the bridge will show the architectural features of Dong People. The most fabulous thing is that Dong People used dove-tailed wood instead of common nails and rivets when constructing this bridge, thus it’s still very sturdy although several decades passed. Walking on the Chengyang Wind and Rain Bridge, you will have a fantastic view of this place.

This attraction is accessible by “Sanjiang to Chengyang” Bus and then visitors will get off at Chengyang.
Admission fee
The admission fee for this attraction is RMB 30. If you plan to watch the performance of the Dong ethnic minority, the admission fee will be RMB80.
