The Longji Terraces
Brief / profile
Longji rice terrace is built into the hillsides, demonstrating the profound wisdom and strenuous labor of the Zhuang people. Sometimes the terraces look like great chains and sometimes look like ribbons as they wind from the foot to the top of the hill. The outline of the terraces is very smooth with gradients between 26 degrees and 35 degrees. Longji Rice Terraces are large, but they are made up of numerous patches less than one mu (about 0.16 hectares).This wonderful construction takes good advantage of the valuable arable land and water in the mountainous region. There are about 66 square kilometers terraced fields called "The champion of the terrace world" in southeast of Longsheng. It is the Dragon's Backbone Rice Terraces 27 kilometers from Longsheng County.
Location
The Longji Terraces are located in Longsheng County Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
History
The 60 sqkm rice terraces in the southeast of Longsheng were originally built in the Yuan Dynasty (1279-1368) and completed in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) by Zhuang people.

Transportation.
To get to the terraces, visitors can take a bus to the town of Longsheng and then transfer to a bus to Longji rice terrace.
Admission fee.
The admission fee is RMB 50.

Late spring is one of the best times of the year to tour Longji Rice Terraces in Longsheng, Guangxi.
